Monarch House in the News
Monarch House Peer Run Respite kicked off 2019 as the subject of a front page article in the Dunn County News. Reporter Sarah Seifert interviewed Monarch House program director Victoria Welle and Wisconsin Milkweed Alliance executive director Kate Laird, who both shared about the qualities of a peer run respite, and why Monarch House exists as an alternative to crisis interventions like hospitalization.
The following week Monarch House was again in the news, this time in an opinion piece where community member Tricia Thompson spoke of the excitement she felt in having Monarch House as a local resource, saying "My sincere wish is that the community of Menomonie will embrace Monarch House’s success as I will." This positive response echoes many of the good wishes received during the December 17 open house, where community members were invited to Monarch House to learn more about this community resource for individuals experiencing crisis or distress.
