New Leadership

2021 saw many transitions at Wisconsin Milkweed Alliance (WIMA), including changes in leadership. Our previous Executive Director, Sae Kim, left the position earlier this year in order to work on national peer support initiatives. Sae is now serving on WIMA's Board of Directors, and we're grateful to have her continued leadership and expertise as a board member!

WIMA is happy to share the good news that Seren Grace has joined us as our new Executive Director! Seren is new to Wisconsin, and brings with them many years of experience and advocacy, particularly with youth, the LGBTQIA+ community, and individuals impacted by trauma. Please join us in welcoming Seren!

In addition to a new Executive Director, WIMA also welcomed the following people to new leadership roles this year:

Anthony Hoffman, Respite Program Coordinator

David Stanley, Community Coordinator

Dan Soler, Financial Manager

Monarch House Updates Monarch House Peer Run Respite continues to adapt to the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, and we hope to continue to provide a haven for those in need of support during times of emotional distress. The house is currently open for those in need of short-term, overnight support (1-7 nights). All peer supporters who work at Monarch House and all guests who stay there agree to follow Covid-19 precautions, including wearing a mask at all times in common areas of the house. Monarch House also continues to operate a peer support warmline, which is available 24 hours a day for over-the-phone support. To access the warmline or to ask about staying at Monarch House, please call 715-505-5641.

Coming Soon: A Community Peer Support Wellness Space

In 2021, WIMA was awarded a grant from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services to create a peer support drop-in space for community members seeking peer support and wellness resources. As we create this space, we want to hear from you, our community members, about what you want this space to offer. Please join us for listening sessions to provide feedback and discussion. The Community Partner Listening Session will be on January 18th, and the Community Member Listening Session will be on January 20th. Keep an eye on the WIMA facebook page as we get closer to the dates.
