Monarch House Peer Run Respite

Monarch House Peer Run Respite is as voluntary, non-medical overnight program for people who are experiencing mental health and substance use related crises or any other emotionally distressing challenges. Its mission is to provide a supportive, home-like environment where people can explore, discover, and direct their path to healing and wholeness with support of team members who also have similar lived experiences and challenges. In addition to the respite program, Monarch House offers 24/7 over-the-phone support through its warmline.

Monarch House Peer Run Respite is a collaboration between SOAR Case Management Services, Inc. and Wisconsin Milkweed Alliance, Inc. It is free of charge for any Wisconsin resident over the age of 18, and is funded by the State of Wisconsin Division of Care and Treatment Services. Upon arrival, guests have access to the common areas and their private bedrooms equipped with key code locks and lock boxes. Guests are also welcome to utilize pantry items to cook meals, explore various healing modalities, and utilize 24/7 peer support. There is no structured programming, clinical assessments, or case management services.

During their stay, guests are encouraged to forge mutual and authentic relationships with Monarch House team members and with each other. Guests and team members are encouraged to share their experiences, learn about each other, and support each other in moving towards their goals in life, rather than the team members being placed in the "helper" role for the guests and directing their course of healing.

Peer Run Respites are non-medical, voluntary crisis alternatives for people who need and want peer-supported and self-directed healing.

WI Peer Run Respites

Monarch House is one of three Peer Run Respites funded by the State of Wisconsin. The other two are Iris Place in Appleton and Solstice House in Madison.

Staying at Monarch House

Stays at Monarch House begin with self-referral and a conversation w/ a team member. Monarch House is open to Wisconsin Residents 18+. There is no charge to stay at Monarch House.
