About Peer Run Respites

Peer run respites are voluntary and non-medical programs for individuals experiencing crises or emotional distress often arising from challenges related to mental health needs, substance uses, and other emotionally distressing events or traumas. Peer run respites strive to provide a supportive environment in which individuals can forge their own paths to their healing and wellness,

Peer run respites are operated by peers who also have lived experiences of emotionally distressing challenges. Such peers are available at the respites 24/7 so that individuals in crises or emotional distress may access their support and build mutual, trusting relationships with them.

Peer run respites strive to provide a home-like setting with few rigid rules, policies, and requirements so that individuals in crises or distress may focus on self-directed healing in a comfortable and empowering environment.
